Lots of Work to Get Done

Still have an incredible amount of work to do for the store, including rip up the carpet in the back room; see how gross it is? But we will get there!

Pushing Back Re-opening…AGAIN

I have to push back the opening of Texture yet another month. I’m kinda depressed about it, I want so much to just work at my bookstore, but unless and until I can get some investors/angels/loans I will have to work another job. I’ve been talking to some other small business owners and quite are few are feeling the pinch of the economy and working an outside job, even if only part-time, rather than close their doors. Plenty of people do this, most notable immigrants who come to the states and work multiple jobs while growing a business. I need to suck it up and do what I have to do, because I am not giving up on my dream. Re-opening July 18th! stay tuned for photos and updates.

Shelves! Cases!

It’s not like my storefront is even all that big, but I still have more bookcases to get in there. Sheesh! That’s the bulk of what we’re doing today. I promise I won’t forget pics this time!

About Texture Bookstore: Updated

Texture Bookstore & Indie Emporium is a used bookstore located in Elyria, Ohio. It is owned and managed by me, Trula. Having my own bookstore is a goal I have been working on for 3 years. I am a writer and avid reader and I LOVE books. I have a bachelor’s of science in business administration and have been running my own indie publishing company since August 2000, so this is a natural extension for me.

I am very committed to independent publishing and the DIY ethic so I will stock such items from other indie producers in my store. In addition to general used books, Texture will also stock independently produced magazines, artwork, crafts, clothing, bags, and more.

Join us for our Post-Holiday Bonanza sale on January 10th & 11th, 2009!

Still Getting Up Bookshelves

I’m only having the front room open for now, but it is incredible how much space it is. I’m not going to have it jam-packed or anything but I am adding more bookcases than originally planned. Taking massive pics this weekend, check back soon!

Piles of Books Everywhere

I have been buying books here and there for the store thinking I’d start major book shopping about a month before I opened. But those little here-and-there purchases have added up to quite a lot of books. I have piles and piles of books everywhere in the house! Erp.

Changing the Concept of Texture

As you may know I also make upcycled fashion. I’m probably going to sell Trula Style Fashion stuff at Texture too, if only a little rack of things. As I’m an avid gardener I was also thinking that in the spring I could sell garden stuff, like maybe have a mini-nursery. I still want the focus of Texture to be a used bookstore though, the main product being used books. But I’m also considering it as my studio and off-line representation of my entire MSPmedia.net business.
